JEAN-LUC NANCY

Jean-Luc Nancy is a philosopher. He is distinguished professor of philosophy at the Université Marc Bloch, Strasbourg. He is also the Georg Wilhelm Friedrich Hegel chair and professor of philosophy at The European Graduate School. He has held visiting professorship at numerous universities, including the Freie Universität Berlin, the University of California, Irvine, and the University of California, Berkeley. Nancy’s thinking has developed over a large and widely translated oeuvre, among which some of the best known are Le Discours de la syncope, I. : Logodaedalus (1975), Ego sum (1979),  La Communauté désœuvrée (1986), L’Expérience de la liberté (1988), Une pensée finie (1990), Le Sens du monde (1993), Être singulier pluriel (1996), L'Intrus (2000), Les Muses (2001),  La Pensée dérobée (2001), La Création du monde ou la Mondialisation (2002), Déconstruction du christianisme I & II (La Déclosion, 2005; L’Adoration, 2010), Vérité de la démocratie (2008), and more recently and Un Trop Humain Virus (2020).
