Parvin Fahimi is a prominent Iranian democrat, activist for democratic right, writer and a symbolic leader of the Green Movement which seeks peaceful transition to a democratic republic so that the character of the movement defines the government that follows it. She gained international recognition following the death of her 19-year-old son, Sohrab Arabi, who was killed by security forces during the peaceful post-election protests in Tehran in June 2009. She is known widely as “Sohrab’s mother”.
